The Hail and Ice Pellet Sensor (HIPS tm) makes ScTi present weather sensors even more capable of discriminating present weather types. Beyond the basic capability of rain and snow discrimination, HIPS tm raises the standard for present weather sensors to new heights. The head of the sensor detects hail or ice pellet via acoustics.
HIPS is extremely easy to install and use. The sensor head/boom arm assembly is attached to the host sensor electronics box using the same hardware used to mount the electronics box.
The cable is plugged into a keyed connector on the bottom of the electronics box. That's it! The host present weather sensor is now ready to report a wide variety of present weather conditions, from rain to snow to sleet to hail to mixed precipitation.
